Sick of dealing with navigating house entrances in the dark, one DoorDasher in California shows off his powerful, rather blinding flashlight on r/doordash_drivers. Going by ContributionNew62 on Reddit, the driver calls his flashlight a “new toy for people who leave their porch lights off.” Hundreds of Redditors were delighted by his idea, with many sharing their disdain for customers who don’t light up their home’s pathways for deliveries.
While ContributionNew62 didn’t add any additional context to their post beyond where they bought their flashlight, plenty of other DoorDashers didn’t hesitate to share their stories about who they deem ‘petty’ customers. “Anyone who orders a delivery and doesn’t have the light when the sun is down. They’re instantly a [expletive] and I hate them,” angrily exclaimed one commenter.
Some recalled how they almost suffered injuries while delivering to customers who refused to turn on their porch lights. Many claimed that they’d rather throw the order at the front door and leave, though this is somewhat of an exaggeration, as online comments typically are, as one Redditor notes.
Reddit Agrees With the California DoorDasher’s Method of Reaching Customers’ Doors
Though, numerous Redditors wholeheartedly agreed with ContributionNew62’s decision to blast customers’ homes with a flashlight if the environment is too dark. “Would I use the super bright flashlight I have to A: find the house numbering and B: make sure I walk safely up to his door and back? Yes 100%,” remarked a Dasher.
Others praised OP for being so bold with a powerful light. “It is blinding. Props to you,” complimented one person. “Bro brought the sun,” laughed another. “Carry a pocket sun and a pocket cannon when dashing at night. No need to play around with crazy people at midnight,” added a third.
While some customers would likely have an issue with shining a blinding light into their home at night to make a delivery, drivers in OP’s post collectively agree that getting to a front door safely is more important. As another DoorDasher shared in a photo, a bright flashlight like ContributionNew62’s would definitely come in handy when a pathway at night isn’t lit at all.
