One of the things that the presence of ICE showed is that the community will always be capable of standing together. This is why many people would warn their own community if they ever saw ICE agents nearby. This is what a Texas woman did when she saw ICE agents were coming to stay at the Hilton branch where she worked. Unfortunately, Hilton ended up firing her. It all started after the tragic death of Renee Good. The impact this left on the employee motivated her even more to protect her community. So when she realized that several ICE agents were staying at her workplace, she posted a TikTok video warning people.
Hilton didn’t like what the brave Texas woman did. Apparently, an ICE agent informed the front desk that he was concerned for his safety. This only made the former employee believe that the agent shouldn’t feel like that when he is the one who has a gun. The woman’s manager also informed her that they shouldn’t discriminate against people just because they are ICE agents. “They discriminate against us every day,” was her response. Later that day, she was contacted and informed that the area’s regional manager had seen the video. When asked to take the video down, the woman refused. This probably was the final straw because she later received a call from HR informing her that they would be moving forward with terminating her. They claimed that she had broken their social media policy.
In an interview, the Texas woman said, “This administration has enabled people to think that it’s okay to take other people’s lives as regardless of their immigration status.” At the end of the video, she encouraged people to stand together. While ICE supporters might enjoy the fact that she was fired, those who are against ICE stood with her. Not only did people support the former employee, but they also donated money to her GoFundMe to help her get back on her feet. “My intentions were never to harm anyone, only to warn families of their presence,” was one of the things the employee wrote in the fundraiser’s description. She wasn’t greedy either because she only set the target for $10K. Currently, her GoFundMe is over $14K.
People Reacting to the Texas Hilton Employee Getting Fired
People supported the Texas woman especially because she lost her job. This made many want to find her GoFundMe to donate to it. “Where is her gofundme? She needs to be protected by the community,” one person wrote. Once the link was shared, another person added, “Thank you for posting. Just donated. [Expletive] [expletive] [expletive] ICE.” The same person then said, “I’m not from the US. But you all need mutual aid. Seriously, how has the ‘Land of the free’ become such a fascist hell hole? And you all have the 2A? Come on. ARM YOURSELVES! DEFEND YOUR CONSTITUTION! Otherwise, it’s a worthless piece of paper.” Someone even said, “Thank you, I was yelling about this in another post wondering where her GoFundMe is. I am dirt, poor and literally dying of poverty and I’m gonna go donate.”
More people showed support for the Texas woman as they applauded what she did. Since Hilton allows ICE agents to stay at their branches, one person wrote, “No ICE in hotels. When making reservations, ask if ICE goons are there. If so, tell them you’ll stay somewhere else. It’s too dangerous to stay in hotels with ICE.” Another person said, “We should all boycott Hilton and make stickers saying Hilton has blood on their hands.” More people made it clear that they will no longer use Hilton as someone else commented, “I will never stay at a Hilton again. And spreading the word how horrible they are.” Many also called the employee a “patriot” because she wanted to defend fellow Americans. It definitely takes a brave person to risk everything just to help others.
