There hasn’t been a lot of good, high-quality RTS games as of the past few years. The only one I can think of is Halo Wars 2, at least after games like Supreme Commander 2 and StarCraft II. It’s been a bit of a drought and while a couple of titles are in the pipeline, there still hasn’t been much in our hands. Thankfully, it seems Deep Silver is finally looking to change that. Iron Harvest, their upcoming RTS in an alternate timeline, is having an Open Beta starting today. All players can hop in and try some of what the campaign and multiplayer modes have to offer. If you’re interested, you can sign up here and watch the new cinematic trailer below.
Iron Harvest takes place in an alternate version of the 1920s, following the end of the infamous Great War. Europe is still recovering from the devastation that resulted, and are attempting to rebuild cities. They’re finding remnants of the Great War and their machines, but this prosperous iron harvest isn’t lasting long. Secret forces are determined to move through the lands, opening fire, and using everything they can to ignite the fires of war once again. Armed with the remnants of Great War technology, it’s up to you to form a defense and push back the invaders if peace is to be kept among the lands. The game is available in Open Beta exclusively on PC through Steam.
Coinciding with the Open Beta, the team is announcing a Pre-Season Cup. This tournament is putting some of the ESL’s greatest talents to the test, utilizing Iron Harvest’s systems to great effect. This tournament will slowly ramp up, ending in a Grand Final match during Gamescom 2020 this year. Prizes total up to nearly $10,000 so the event is quite lucrative. If you’d like more details on the tournament or want to sign up, you can do so here.
We’d love to hear your thoughts on all this. What do you think of Iron Harvest from that cinematic trailer? Are you interested in viewing or participating in the tournament? Let us know, and stay tuned at The Nerd Stash for all your news, reviews, and more!
