Is Ark Survival Evolved Crossplay? Answered

Ark Survival Evolved players, like many others, love playing with their friends through crossplay. But is it cross-platform? That’s what we’re here to tell you about. In simple terms, yes — the game is crossplay; however, this only applies to certain circumstances with specific consoles. To make it even more confusing, only particular versions of the game work with crossplay. However, there are some platforms, like mobile and Nintendo Switch, that don’t allow for crossplay at all. Let’s dive into the details about if Ark Survival Evolved supports crossplay.

Ark Survival Evolved is crossplay, but only to a certain extent. With as big as the game is and as many opportunities as there are for building up a tribe and dominating your map, it only makes sense for the gameplay experience to be cross-platform. Since multiplayer is a big key to thriving within the game, Studio Wildcard has put together as many opportunities for us as possible to play with our friends, no matter the platform they use.

However, there are limitations to crossplay. While several different platforms can be played on, there are also several game versions. Due to that fact, mobile users and Nintendo Switch players do not get crossplay on Ark Survival Evolved. There are options for Xbox and PC, though. Xbox players can play with PC players using the Windows 10 version of Ark Survival Evolved, which can be purchased from the Microsoft store. But if you have the Steam version of the game on PC, you cannot play with other platforms. There are servers available on the game that allow players from the Windows 10 version of the game and Xbox to play together, and these are called Unofficial PC Servers.

Not only is Ark Survival Evolved at least partially crossplay, but it is also cross-gen. That means that PlayStation 4 players can play with PlayStation 5 players. Xbox One players can also play with Xbox Series X or S players. However, Studio Wildcard has little interest in the limited range of crossplay options for its game and has not spoken recently about increasing those options. We hope to be able to play together more with the release of Ark Survival Ascended.
