One of the biggest survival hits of 2024 is Enshrouded, and it’s only normal for players to try it on the go on a Steam Deck. Thing is, is it actually compatible with Steam’s pint-sized system? While Valve’s handheld list of compatible games has grown exponentially, many gamers are always watching for new big releases to make their way to this console. Besides, Enshrouded has many things to do that will hook players even when they step away from their computer, so another way to play it never hurts.

Can You Play Enshrouded on Steam Deck?

Yes. Enshrouded is compatible with Steam Deck, albeit with a few issues. First and foremost, it hasn’t been officially verified. If you didn’t know, this means that while the game is playable, it’ll have some issues. Enshrouded crashing is an issue that already impacts PC players. So far, players have reported the game tends to hit 60 FPS but dips hard when it reaches certain areas. This also happens with PC users due to the many fog effects on the map. Thankfully, the controls work well enough to let you play for a bit. Still, this isn’t the best experience, and right now, there isn’t word on whether the game will become verified in the future.

It’s important to remember that the game is set to get a console release eventually. This could mean that the developers are focusing on ironing out the kinks first while in early access. Usually, once consoles get a game, Steam Deck tends to verify it, too, but that’s just speculation.

In the meantime, if you have a good enough PC, we have a guide on improving performance when playing. The game launched in an optimized state with just a few areas causing trouble for players. Ultimately, this is an early access game, and this is to be expected. Still, we have our fingers crossed that Enshrouded will receive a proper Steam verification update in the future.
