Trophy and achievement hunters always have to prepare for massive RPGs like Baldur’s Gate 3. Depending on the list, it can be harder or easier for people. One of the biggest headaches in any game is a difficulty trophy, so with Baldur’s Gate 3 out, you may wonder if there is one. With all the difficulty options, you can easily ramp up how much of a challenging experience you want. Let’s look at the list and what you should expect when embarking on this fantastical journey.

With the addition of Honour Mode, there are now two difficulty trophies in Baldur’s Gate 3. The first one is for Tactician Mode. This difficulty offers a bigger challenge with some changes to the game’s formula, such as the following:

  • Enemies have a higher Armor Class (AC).
  • Increased hit points for enemies.
  • Increased damage to the party by enemies.
  • Environmental effects are more varied and deadlier.

However, for the brave ones out there, Honour Mode is no joke, and it is the toughest way to play Baldur’s Gate 3. Here are the changes for this mode:

  • Certain enemies now have Legendary Actions, such as the Owlbear summoning another Owlbear to the fight.
  • You only have one save file for your adventure and you can’t just ALT+F4 to avoid a mistake; the game saves everytime you exit.
  • If you die during Honour Mode, you can swap to Custom Mode, thus forfeiting your trophy opportunity.

Much of this is combat-centered. So, if being strategic is not your strongest quality, then you may want to try to avoid combat as much as possible to earn this difficulty trophies in Baldur’s Gate 3. Playing multiplayer can also help if you have some trustworthy friends to aid you on this quest.

If this is your first rodeo, I don’t recommend picking any of the abovementioned difficulty modes. You should always go for any of the first ones to test the waters and enjoy the story without stressing over combat. However, Baldur’s Gate 3 has a lot of replayability, so you’ll likely try the hardest difficulties in subsequent playthroughs.
