Colleen Hoover officially broke her silence regarding Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni’s legal battle. Shortly after the actress’ sexual harassment lawsuit against her It Ends With Us co-star and director became public, Hoover (who wrote the best-selling novel the movie was based on) took to her Instagram Stories to share her feelings on the dispute. She made it clear she was siding with Lively by posting an emotional message of support for her.
Colleen Hoover Weighs In On ‘It Ends With Us’ Drama
“@blakelively, you have been nothing but honest, kind, supportive and patient since the day we met,” Colleen Hoover wrote. “Thank you for being exactly the human that you are. Never change. Never wilt.”
Alongside her message, the romance author posted a photo of her and the Gossip Girl alum hugging at an It Ends With Us screening. She also shared a link to an article detailing Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni’s lawsuit.
Behind Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni’s Lawsuit
According to TMZ, Lively is suing Baldoni for sexual harassment. She claims he created such a “hostile work environment” for her that she had to hold a meeting to address his behavior. During the discussion, Lively issued Baldoni a list of demands. Her requests included him no longer “showing nude videos or images of women” to Lively and no more talking about his alleged previous “pornography addiction” as well as his “sexual conquests” in front of her. He was also told not to make further comments about the cast and crew’s genitalia, Lively’s weight, and her dead father. Lively also demanded not to film any more sex scenes that she hadn’t already approved of at the beginning of the project.
Although the film’s studio, Sony Pictures, approved her requests, the conflict between Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni didn’t end there. Following the drama on set, Lively accused Baldoni of trying to “destroy” her reputation through a “social manipulation” campaign.
The details about the pair’s feud may have just been publicly revealed now. However, fans had a feeling there were issues for months. Speculation about a fallout between Lively and Baldoni first arose around the premiere of It Ends With Us on Aug. 9. During the film’s press run, fans noted the co-stars didn’t do interviews together. They also didn’t pose with each other on the red carpet or follow each other on social media.
Since Lively’s lawsuit against Baldoni came to light, fans now understand why there was so much tension between them earlier this year.
