‘It’s a Miracle Nobody Died’: Louisiana Café Destroyed After Out-of-Control Car Crashes Through Dining Room

The breadsticks cannot be THAT good.

People across Facebook and Instagram are reacting to a dramatic video shared by WWLTV showing a car tearing through the dining room of a Louisiana restaurant while customers were still eating inside. The footage left many viewers shocked by how narrowly the waitress escaped. Not everyone inside the restaurant escaped unharmed, however, as local police said several diners and the driver were taken to the hospital following the crash.

While there have been few updates on the conditions of those injured, the damage to the restaurant was clearly visible in the footage shared online. Videos from the scene showed debris scattered across the dining room along with significant structural damage. Restaurant owner Russell Autry told WWL-TV that while similar incidents had happened outside the cafe before, this was “by far the worst.”

Police have not yet confirmed what caused the crash and say the incident remains under investigation. Autry, however, believes speeding likely played a role. Speaking to local news, he said, “People do drive way too fast. The road curves a bit, and there’s actually a pretty significant hill… like a bump, and if you hit it at a high rate of speed, your car will come off the ground.”

People Had A Lot To Say About The Driving

Facebook and Instagram commenters largely agreed with Autry’s concerns about reckless driving. Many said how lucky customers and staff were to survive the crash with relatively minor injuries. “There’s close calls then there’s this,” one commenter wrote, while another added, “Glad no one was hurt, which is a miracle with 15 people dining at the time.”

Other Louisiana locals turned their attention toward traffic enforcement and road safety. “Until the traffic cops go back to ticketing speeding cars, this will most likely happen again elsewhere,” one Facebook user commented. “The amount of reckless driving I’ve seen in the last two years has been horrendous.” An Instagram user went a step further, criticizing local leadership by writing, “Councilman for Algiers Freddie King… is vehemently opposed to traffic calming infrastructure which would have prevented this from happening.”

Autry later shared an update on Facebook saying the restaurant’s dining room will remain closed following the crash. He said he was thankful his employees survived the incident relatively safely. According to Autry, cleanup efforts are expected to begin as soon as possible.

Concerns over speeding and reckless driving have become an increasing topic of discussion in Louisiana in recent years. In early 2026, lawmakers proposed legislation that would create a new crime called “felony speeding,” which would reportedly penalize drivers traveling over 100 mph with automatic fines of up to $1,000 and possible jail time.
