Jagged Alliance 3 is a military strategy game that can be a challenge for a player unfamiliar with this genre. Although often to plunge into the game you need to learn it yourself, sometimes it is still better to start with a certain amount of knowledge so as not to make mistakes that you will regret later, especially if a game is complicated. For this reason, we have prepared tips and tricks for beginners in Jagged Alliance 3.
Create a Custom Mercenary
From the very beginning, you should create your own character in Jagged Alliance 3. You should make it a leader since such mercenaries are more valuable than others. To do this, in the editor, set all stats to maximum except Medicine, Mechanical, and Explosive. Another reason to make your own character is that he will not have to get paid later.
Train Your Militia
One of the important features of mercenaries with a high leadership score is that they can train militia. Fortunately, this is inexpensive and worth it because after capturing a city, it is very likely that they will want to recapture it. Thanks to militia, attacks will be repelled and you will be able to leave the city even if there is an enemy base nearby.
Give your Soldiers a Break
Jagged Alliance 3 is quite a realistic game, so sometimes you need to stop and rest. Your soldiers will be exhausted, so you need to take a break from time to time to heal or repair equipment.
Heal Mercs Only When You Need to
While you will have a few mercenaries, you need to constantly monitor their condition to know whether to hire new ones. Sometimes you can save a lot of money on treating a wounded soldier. If a fighter’s contract is about to expire, you can simply terminate it and not pay the doctor. Don’t worry about the progress of this mercenary as he can be simply hired later and he will not lose his equipment and experience.
But there are situations when this is not worth doing even if the contract is coming to an end. Sometimes your mercenary may have an incomplete task, such as training militia, and in this case, it is better to heal him than to start the task again with another mercenary.
Do Not Hire Elite Level Mercenaries
At the beginning of the game, you will have a lot of money, but do not rush to spend it. You should hire mainly Recruit Level mercenaries as they will cost you much less and there are many decent fighters among them. Also, when hiring recruits, pay attention to the price of hiring. Very often it is much more profitable to hire for two weeks than for one, so keep an eye on this to save money.
Take Over the Diamond Mines
To get access to your first source of income, you’ll need to clear the first island. You will be able to capture two mines, but you should keep your way to the one near the northern port as it will give you more income. Also, this way, you will get access to various weapon equipment and modifications for your weapons. In the future, try to plan your offense in such a way that you can conquer diamond mines first, as you will need money all the time and mines are the only way to make passive income in Jagged Alliance 3.
Conquer Enemy Bases
Bases need to be conquered as soon as you have the opportunity to do so. The best way to do this is to conduct reconnaissance and quietly take out a few enemies before the attack begins. You can do this with a sniper rifle, which is quite effective and easy to learn. Also, this weapon will help in a stealth attack on the base.
