This article is over 5 years old and may contain outdated information.

Per Deadline, the next installment of the James Bond franchise, No Time To Die, has been delayed from its April release date to November. Now, the film will release on November 12th in the U.K. and November 25th in the United States. The reason for the delay is the coronavirus outbreak.

MGM, Universal and Bond producers, Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli, announced today that after careful consideration and thorough evaluation of the global theatrical marketplace, the release of NO TIME TO DIE will be postponed until November 2020. pic.twitter.com/a9h1RP5OKd

The coronavirus has had a major impact on the entertainment industry as of late. Mission Impossible 7, Sonic the Hedgehog, Mulan, and more have been delayed in some form due to the coronavirus. The deadly disease has also left its mark on the video game industry. After many developers and publishers bowed out of the event, the people behind the GDC (Game Developers Conference) decided to postpone the event over concerns about the virus.

Switching gears back to the film. It’s important to note that the Deadline article goes on to state that they think the delay is purely from an economic standpoint. This means that the film isn’t necessarily being delayed due to fears over the coronavirus itself but more so that the film wouldn’t make as much money. Basically, the goal is to wait out the coronavirus and make as much money as humanly possible in November.

No Time to Die stars Daniel Craig as James Bond with Rami Malek playing the movie’s main villain, Safin. Many have speculated online that Malek’s actually playing the classic Bond villain Dr. No. While talking with Total Film (via GamesRadar), Malek was asked if he was willing to shoot down these rumors:

ā€œI would never shoot something like that down. It’s intriguing,ā€

No Time To Die will release November 12th in the U.K. and November 25th in the U.S.
