Things are looking up for Jeff Bridges with his latest update on his cancer battle, as his tumor has dramatically shrunk. In a cover story from AARP, the actor reflected on his health crisis while talking about how he is today. After getting COVID and non-Hodgkin Lymphoma in 2020, he has had a long road to recovery. In 2021, he announced he was in remission.
When the tumor was discovered, revealing his cancer, Jeff Bridges previously said it was “12-by-9-in.” While it “didn’t hurt,” it was “like a child in my body.” After chemotherapy, the 73-year-old actor confirmed his tumor is down “to the size of a marble.” To get to this point, it was all about “setting really small goals.” As he was receiving chemotherapy, he had COVID, which made him “close to dying.” At that time, he had not received the vaccine, leading to a stay at the hospital for five weeks. The chemo had destroyed his immune system, making COVID the major risk as he was trying to receive cancer treatment.

During that time, things looked bad as he thought he would not be able to “work again.” Life for the actor is looking good, but he has a more optimistic look. Cancer has made him want to be more creative. He thinks people should go toward collaboration “to make something beautiful.”
“I’m feeling that the times are demanding us to be as creative as possible. We should all work together to make something beautiful, like we do in the movies.”
While talking about his experience fighting cancer, Jeff Bridges is going to get himself busy with The Old Man season 2. The FX series follows him as a retired CIA agent who is the target of a hunt after a visit from a man he has not seen in years. He stars with John Lithgow, E.J. Bonilla (Gemini Man), Bill Heck (Locke & Key), and Alia Shawkat (Arrested Development). The first season is currently on Hulu.
