Jennifer Aniston has finally broken her Instagram silence in the wake of former costar Matthew Perry‘s death. The 54-year-old sitcom star is the same age as Matthew was when he was found unresponsive in his hot tub on October 28, and her latest share marked her first solo statement since the tragic loss.
Posting on Wednesday, Jennifer shared photos and video footage of herself and Friends star Matthew. She also left a heartfelt tribute to the man she said she knows is now “completely at peace and out of any pain.”
Jennifer Aniston Writes Heartfelt Tribute To Matthew Perry
In a trio of slides, Aniston opened with a black-and-white photo showing herself and Perry backstage.
Likely on the Friends set, the duo was seen enjoying a laughter-filled moment, with Matthew holding a script. Also shared was a text she’d received from Matthew. “Making you laugh just made my day. Made my day,” the sender had written. “AWWWW the first of thousands of times,” a reply read.
Definitely going bittersweet, Jen also shared Friends footage from the 1994-2004 sitcom she starred on, here showing a scene between on-screen character Rachel Green and Matthew’s much-loved Chandler Bing one.
Says This ‘One Has Cut Deep’
In a moving caption, Aniston began: “Oh boy this one has cut deep… Having to say goodbye to our Matty has been an insane wave of emotions that I’ve never experienced before. We all experience loss at some point in our lives. Loss of life or loss of love.”
Shifting to a “we” and likely referring to costars Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt Le Blanc, and David Schwimmer, the girl behind Rachel Green added that we “loved him deeply,” continuing that “we were always the 6 of us.”
Quoting one of Bing‘s best-known “could I BE any more” lines, Aniston continued: “I talk to you every day… sometimes I can almost hear you saying “could you BE any crazier?”
“Rest little brother. You always made my day…,” she closed.
Love quickly came in from fans and also from celebrities. Leaving heart emoji was The Big Bang Theory actress Kaley Cuoco. Support also came in from designer Rachel Zoe and supermodel Naomi Campbell. Meanwhile, Instagram likes came in from Hulu star Khloe Kardashian and actress Reese Witherspoon among others.
