Coming off the massive success of Top Gun: Maverick, Jennifer Connelly has been cast in the Apple series Dark Matter. The nine-episode sci-fi show will also star Joel Edgerton (The Green Knight).
In Dark Matter, Jennifer Connelly will play Daniela Dessen, the wife of her co-star. Her husband, Jason Dessen, is a physicist and professor who, upon walking home one night in Chicago, he falls into an alternate reality of his life. At first, he is filled with wonder about his situation, but it turns nightmarish as he tries to exit this universe into his original life. He must get back to his universe before something terrible happens to his family from another version of himself.
Jennifer Connelly cast in Apple series Dark Matter
Dark Matter with Jennifer Connelly is an adaption of a book of the same name by Blake Crouch, who will write and serve as showrunner of the Apple series. He executive produces with Edgerton, Matt Tolmach, and David Manpearl. Jakob Verbruggen (Invasion) directs the first three episodes, with another three episodes to be directed by Louis Leterrier (Now You See Me) after he wraps Fast X. It falls in line with the trend the streamer has going with its sci-fi projects like Severance, Invasion, For All Mankind, and Foundation.
Besides Dark Matter, Jennifer Connelly has plenty of work ahead of her. She also stars in TNT’s Snowpiercer with Sean Bean, Daveed Diggs (Hamilton), Mickey Sumner (Battle of the Sexes), Alison Wright (Castle Rock), and Iddo Goldberg (Salem). It will end after four seasons. She is attached to Bad Behaviour as Alice Englert’s (The Power of the Dog) directorial debut. Connelly and Englert will star with Ben Whishaw (Paddington 2) and Dasha Nekrasova (Succession). Her roles in recent years have included Spider-Man: Homecoming, Only the Brave, and Alita: Battle Angel.
