Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner‘s post-divorce relationship still confuses many of the former couple’s followers. They appear to remain co-parents and close friends despite their split—or at least that is what Ben thought until now.
Jennifer Garner was in a rare mood earlier this month during a guest spot on the Lipstick on the Rim podcast series. During a discussion on relationships, Jen shared what she has learned from her experience and a warning to all women.
Garner reveals her favorite quote and the best advice she received from her mother, Pat, which has hit home over the years: ‘Never expect a man—don’t marry a man thinking you can change him.’
While Jennifer did not elaborate on her past relationships and failed marriages during the podcast, fans felt that her words and potential warning were a direct dig at her ex, Ben Affleck. The celebrity pair were married from 2005 to 2018 and share three children.
Though their union did not last, Jennifer has remained a good friend to Ben Affleck and has even been a shoulder for him to lean on during his ongoing divorce from Jennifer Lopez. In previous reports, Garner has revealed feeling more than a little salty over the wasted years with Ben.

Jennifer Garner has claimed that during her marriage to Ben Affleck, she went above and beyond to help the Gone Girl star get his life and alcoholism under control. She put in years of work, yet things did not work out between them.
As far as Jen G. is concerned, JLo seemingly owes her some credit for helping Ben through his struggles. Garner claims that JLo got the ‘better version’ of Ben Affleck thanks to her. Even so, JLo and Ben’s marriage is also over. Although JLo may disagree.
Ben Affleck is fortunate to have such a friend in Garner. Jennifer has been there every step of the way to support her ex during his split with Lopez. She admits she wants to see Ben get his life together and move forward.
However, according to the Daily Mail, Jennifer Garner believes Ben Affleck has a lot of work to do on himself. Because she is so close to her ex and knows him so well, Jennifer Garner allegedly felt the need to get a few things off her chest and ensure Ben’s potential partners know what they are getting into.
“She’s just stating a common sense fact – you can’t change people, and if you expect marriage to change them, you’ll be disappointed,” writes one fan. “No one is changing Ben, but Ben. And Ben is not changing anytime soon,” adds another.
Some fans think Jennifer Garner’s remarks were meant to be eye-openers, not only for Affleck. But also for herself and Jennifer Lopez. No matter what Garner says about her ex, it doesn’t appear she will ever get over him completely.
They even claim it will not come as a surprise if Ben and Jen G. wind up back together. Crazier things have happened. But the two of them appear destined to grow old together in one way or another.
