In classic fashion, a Marvel actor has to play coy about being in a new movie. Josh Brolin has given a vague answer on whether we will see Cable again in Deadpool & Wolverine. Initially, it was a “no,” but then he said “maybe,” with a smile that will surely stir confusion. With the multiverse take on the third entry, anything could be possible.
In an interview with Collider (seen below), the actor was asked about his return. He was asked if he would star in the film, and “If not, why?” He gave an answer that was initially definitive as he said, “No,” then made it vague as he followed up with, “I don’t know.” For the reasoning, he quipped that “Ryan doesn’t like” him. He emphasized that he didn’t know, then interrupted the next question with a “maybe.”
Josh Brolin Dodges Question About Cable Being in Deadpool & Wolverine
It is not common for actors to dodge questions when they are asked if they will join the MCU or reprise a role for the universe. Before today’s confirmation of the Fantastic Four cast, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, who will play The Thing, had to avoid the question last month in an interview with TheWrap. Over the years, others have been put in situations like that, including Charlie Cox, Andrew Garfield, and Toby Maguire for No Way Home.
Josh Brolin has been a busy guy, as reprising Cable seems like a logistical nightmare for the actor. Currently, he will return for his Prime Video series Outer Range for season 2, and in March, he will reprise his role as Gurney Halleck in Dune: Part Two this March.
Not much is known about Deadpool & Wolverine. The teaser trailer sees the Merc with the Mouth hired by the TVA to go on a multiversal mission featuring X-Men characters like Wolverine. It will be released in theaters as the first rated-R movie in the MCU on July 26.
