Josh Duggar isn’t getting his freedom anytime soon. The convicted sex offender’s appeal to vacate his current 12-year sentence has fallen through. In 2021, Duggar was found guilty of charges related to the receipt and possession of child pornography. He was then sentenced in May 2022. He has since attempted to fight for his release on multiple occasions but has been met with disappointment.
On Monday, the Supreme Court declined to hear the former reality star’s appeal. Per Fox News, the highest court of the land announced its decision to deny Duggar’s petition in its order list. This means that the 36-year-old will continue to serve his sentence until 2032. For the appeal, Duggar’s lawyer argued that his client’s statement to investigators during the search of his dealership shouldn’t count because an attorney wasn’t present.
Duggar’s trouble dates back to 2019 when Homeland Security began investigating him after a computer traced to him shared child sexual abuse material. In November 2019, authorities conducted a search in the car dealership where Duggar worked. Investigators found images depicting sexual abuse of children, including toddlers.
This isn’t the first time Josh Duggar has tried to appeal his sentence. In October 2022, his lawyer filed an appeal to the United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit. However, after a panel hearing, the court chose to affirm his sentence.
Amy Duggar Wants ‘Absolute Torture’ For Cousin Josh
Josh Duggar’s rejected appeal comes two months after his cousin Amy Duggar spoke publicly about his conviction. In an interview, the disappointed reality expressed her disgust towards her sex offender cousin.
“I hope every day there is absolute torture for him. I really hope that because what he watched and what he was viewing for his own fulfillment is those kids experiencing torture.”

She continued, “He deserves every second in there, and I hope he gets a longer term. I hope he messes up again.” As for Josh’s welfare behind bars, Amy revealed, “I have not spoken to him, and I will not. I will not.”
