Katie Holmes shot to fame during her early years in Hollywood thanks to her role as Joey Potter on the hit teen series Dawson’s Creek. Holmes portrayed the girl next door who had a lifelong crush on her best friend. The show aired from 1998 until 2003, when it ended after Season 6. However, it has remained a fan-favorite series and a source of nostalgia for many millennials. The cast, which also included James Van Der Beek, Joshua Jackson, Michelle Williams, and Busy Phillips, have remained close throughout the years. However, Holmes admits that she’s not as active in the group chat as she could be.
Recently, Holmes was told that the Dawson’s Creek cast had a WhatsApp group chat. However, she is not a part of. The actress admitted that she didn’t know about the group chat, which was created by actor Joshua Jackson, who played Pacey Witter in the series, per In Touch Weekly.

“Um … really?” she said in response. “All of us text every now and then, but I wasn’t aware of the WhatsApp.”
However, Katie Holmes has no ill feelings about not being involved in the group chat. Instead, she says that she’s fine with it because she’s “really bad” at keeping up with the messages. “I never check it because it’s a little too much,” she confessed.
Meanwhile, the actress shared that while it may be difficult for her to keep up with her old castmates, she hasn’t shut them out completely. In fact, she does keep in touch with them “every now and then.”
“Everyone’s grown up and is busy, but the bond will forever be there,” Holmes said of her former Dawson’s Creek co-stars.
These days, the stars have children and families to contend with as they continue their Hollywood careers. However, the talk of a possible Dawson’s Creek reboot never seems to be far from the minds of fans. Sadly, Holmes doesn’t think that the beloved series wouldn’t have the same vibe if it was set in today’s society.
“There have been many discussions over the years. We all loved the experience,” she previously told Variety. “There’s a protection that comes along with the discussion. The show was a time capsule. To put it into today’s world might tarnish it a little bit.
It was right before everyone had a phone and social media and all of that, so there was an innocence that was there between the characters that was one of the things I think people liked about the show. To put it into the setting of today’s world, I’m not sure.”
Fans would likely love to see Katie Holmes and the Dawson’s Creek gang get back together for some sort of reunion or reboot. However, for now, it seems that it’s not in the cards.
