Katie Maloney addressed her Vanderpump Rules exit last week. However, during a new episode of her podcast, Disrespectfully, the reality star shared some news that people didn’t know about. In case you missed it, Bravo shared with the world that Vanderpump Rules, as fans know it, would be no longer. The decision to fire the cast and reboot them with fresh faces came after months of deliberation.
As many are aware, the cast became a house divided after Tom Sandoval slept with Raquel Leviss. Their salacious affair fractured the group, causing Ariana Madix to walk away from most of them. The latter’s decision to separate from Sandoval also put some people in the middle, which, ultimately, forced the producers’ hand.
After Bravo shared the news, fans shared how grateful they were that they got 11 years out of the OG cast. On an episode of her podcast, Katie revealed that it was tough to say bye. However, she told her co-host, Dayna, that she had been ready to bounce for some time. So, what else did she have to say?
Katie Was Ready To Leave Vanderpump ‘Months’ Before the News Broke
As we mentioned before, Vanderpump Rules ran for 11 consecutive seasons before a major overhaul happened. For many of the stars, they have been on since Episode 1, and that’s true for Katie. But despite the lights and cameras, the sandwich shop owner was ready for something different. During her conversation with her friend, former VPR star Dayna, Katie decided to leave “months” before the news broke about Pump Rules‘ future. “I didn’t plan on returning,” she said. “I just needed to move on with my life.”
Katie’s decision may have been a secret to the fans, but according to her, the show’s producers were well aware. “Personally, [I felt] ready to move on from the show.” She continued, saying she felt her life was headed down a different path. “I went through so much on that show,” she said before revealing filming was no longer healthy for her. “I don’t know that I can live and grow and be the version of myself that I want to be any longer.”
Katie also mentioned that the group no longer had the original spark that made it special. After all, the original series featured real friends who were dating, working together, and navigating life as young adults. Although they all grew throughout those first nine seasons, Tom’s actions during Season 10 changed the trajectory forever.
Consequently, Katie understood Bravo’s decision to cut the cast. “I think that the group and the dynamic and what makes that show that show would be hard to do because it was so fractured at the end,” she said. As she went on, she revealed most of the cast members don’t hang out with each other outside of filming. “As far as it being a cohesive unit … it just doesn’t exist anymore.”
She finished: “So, I feel like what made Vanderpump Rules Vanderpump Rules … didn’t exist anymore.”
