Katy Perry got booed in the latest episode of American Idol. Fans of the talent show were not happy with her critique of one of the contestants in the show. The Roar singer criticized contestant Nutsa Buzaladze’s outfit during the April 17 episode of the competition. Buzaladze delivered a performance of Grace Potter and the Nocturnal’s Paris (Ooh La La) for the ABC show on Monday. Fans were in awe of the contestant’s rendition of the song. Therefore, the 25-year-old singer deserved a spot on the Top 26. However, Perry had another suggestion for the singer.

The 38-year-old Fireworks singer told the contestant that every time the singer takes the stage, “It’s like you glitter bomb the stage.” Katy Perry continued by telling Nutsa Buzaladze that she would like not to see “one piece of glitter the next time.” Fans of the show filming in Hawaii were not having any of the judge’s critiques. Therefore, they erupted in boos.
Also, the other fellow judges on the show could not believe that fans booed Katy Perry for her take. One of the judges, Lionel Richie, burst out, “Whoa, hostility!” Similarly, a fellow judge, Luke Bryan, could not help but exclaim that the Dark Horse singer got booed.
Despite the displeasure shown by fans on her judgment for the first time in 6 years, the singer was not fazed. The TV personality did not retract her feedback to Buzaladze. The Harleys In Hawaii singer continued by expressing how she would love it if the contestant could “flip the script.”
Is This The First Time Perry Will Critique A Contestant On American Idol?
This is not the first time the pop artiste has criticized contestants on American Idol as a judge. Earlier this year, some fans of the show were unhappy and accused the songwriter of “mom shaming” a contestant, Sara Beth Liebe. That happened during her audition. Although the contestant later quit the competition.
Now, the singer’s critique of Buzaladze did not settle well with fans, and they showed their displeasure during the show. However, viewers of the reality competition will not be able to find out if the contestant advances to the next round despite Perry’s critique. Until April 23, results show before fans will know if Buzaladze will advance or not.
On April 18, the contestant wrote on her Instagram about how heartwarming it was to receive genuine love and support from fans. Buzaladze could not help but express her gratitude to her supporters. Regardless of the results of the show, Buzaladze is grateful to her fans.
