With 2025 around the corner, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s financial enterprise is at the mercy of Netflix, unless they come up with new money schemes after the deal expires, which may not pan out well for King Charles. Harry and Meghan have been the royal family’s worst nightmares since their highly-publicized UK exit. Contrary to the couple’s hope for a private life post-Megxit, the pair have made their absence felt in more ways than one.
The royal family got the first taste of the Sussexes’ wrath with their explosive Oprah interview, which cast dirt on the monarchy. They made more disturbing claims in their Netflix documentary, Harry & Meghan, eventually delivering the final blow in Harry’s 2023 memoir, Spare.
The Fate of the British Monarchy Rests on Harry & Meghan’s Netflix Deal
Understandably, the palace is concerned about the couple’s next move or plans to spill more royal dirt. Journalist and broadcaster Dan Wootton revealed that more than anything, King Charles fears the lengths Prince Harry and Meghan may be willing to go to secure more financial gains if their Netflix deal lapses come 2025. He divulged,
“This is the King’s worst nightmare — he’s horrified.”
Dan believes this nightmare is inevitable, especially with the Netflix deal already hanging by a thread. Until the “Netflix Hammar blow,” Harry and Meghan continue to focus on their upcoming shows. Meanwhile, Meghan’s lifestyle brand, American Riviera Orchard gathers dust by the side, reportedly awaiting Netflix’s decision.
Meghan Markle May Lose Another Major Deal
A senior entertainment executive explained the importance of adhering to Netflix’s schedules given their reputation as the biggest player in town. Hence, to remain in the good books, everyone, including the Sussexes, must fall in line. The source revealed,
“There is literally no point in Meghan doing anything until Netflix is ready to act.”
Going contrary to Netflix’s wishes may spell doom for their future collaborations. In that case, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle may have to turn to spilling more “embarrassing” details about the royal family.
While the couple parades these revelations as their way of telling their side of the story amid the media-manipulated views of them while sharing their royal experiences, the money-making prospects can’t be denied. Royal watchers believe these financial gains are the main driving force behind the couple’s exposés. Prince Harry and Meghan’s multimillion-dollar deals with companies like Netflix and Spotify all but prove this.
Last year, Spotify pulled the plug on their $20 million deal with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. Although described as a “mutual” decision, reports claimed the Sussexes failed to reach the “productivity benchmarks” required for their full payout. They reportedly “messed up” their deal with Netflix for similar reasons.
While the streaming giant has yet to sever ties with them, their latest fumble is sort of a last straw. Reports suggest Prince Harry and Meghan Markle ruined any hopes of renewing their Netflix deal during their Colombia tour. According to them, the bulk of the blame rests on the Suits alum for obsessively trying to control the narrative, which led to poor audio coverage on the camera footage.
