A new livestream of Kirby: Planet Robobot by GameXplain shows viewers what they can expect a ways into the pink perpetual-binge-eater’s latest high-tech trek. Among the new powers showcased are the Doctor, which takes a page from Mario’s book and uses pills as weapons, Poison, which allows Kirby to release toxic clouds that can be carried via air currents and leave venomous pools in his wake, and even a side-scrolling shooter segment culminating in a dogfight against a heavily-armed combat mech. The video naturally contains some minor spoilers, but nothing beyond showing off a few copy abilities and bosses.

Fans who played previous Kirby titles will hear a variety of new and returning music, including the famous Factory Investigation track from Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards. Other returning elements include hopping between the foreground and background and carrying items from one end of a room to the other to unlock doors or open new paths. There are collectible stickers to pick up as well, and a sizable puzzle element to some of the levels requiring players to bring along the right ability.
The mechs that Kirby rides do not inherit his abilities upon hopping into the cockpit. Rather, the player will need to scan an enemy to acquire its powers. Once they do the robot becomes a veritable wrecking ball capable of crashing through just about anything except the solid boundaries of the environment. Sections utilizing these bots are reminiscent of Kirby’s Hypernova power from Triple Deluxe.
Kirby: Planet Robobot apparently takes a bit of something from several past games, gives them a tune-up, and sprinkles them neatly around the world for a platforming experience that’s shaping up to be another fantastic 3DS Kirby adventure. The game will release exclusively for the handheld on June 10 in North America and Europe.
