Kojima Productions in Japan will continue to focus primarily on games, while this new LA office will expand the studio’s entertainment reach into multiple entertainment mediums, not just games.
“The new division will be tasked with working with creative and talented professionals in television, music, and film, as well as the more familiar games industry”, Russel spoke regarding the studio and its goals via GameIndustryBiz.
The team has as its charter, the goal of expanding the reach and awareness of the properties now under development at Kojima Productions, and to make them, even more, a part of our popular culture. Although we are a global organization, the new business development team will be centered in Los Angeles, CA. We are truly excited and looking forward to working with the very best entertainment talent we can, across all of the entertainment industries”
Although no official information has been shared regarding the exact projects the studio will be working on soon, there may be a focus on developing and adapting the studio’s brands and IPs into such things as TV shows, movies, and soundtrack releases. This currently includes Death Stranding and Death Stranding: Director’s Cut, although Hideo Kojima’s upcoming project may be in consideration as well.
