Lea Michele is bent on being a Broadway mainstay and teased about returning for another musical when Funny Girl ends. Back in September, the actress-singer was introduced to Funny Girl revival as Beanie Feldstein’s replacement. She became the third actress to play the Fanny Brice role. Ahead of Feldstein and Michele, Barbra Streisand embodied the role in the original play. The Broadway show still maintained its plot twist in the revival. The story focuses on Brice’s journey to fame and her rocky romance with gambler Nicky Arnstein. The musical includes ever-green songs like People, Don’t Rain on My Parade, and I’m the Greatest Star.
Lea Michele Hints on a Future Broadway Return While Working on Funny Girl
Not that there is any disagreement between Lea Michele and the producers of Funny Girl, but she already views the future. The actor-singer, who is very much with a part of the Broadway show, dropped hints of a future gig. Michele is familiar with her next Broadway show but does not feel the need to share so much. However, she told Variety it is a revival show and “very different musically.”
Broadway was Michele’s first love long before her family, including a husband and son. The actress made her debut at age 8 in the Broadway play titled Les Misérables. About a decade later, she appeared in Spring Awakening.
Fame found her following her work in Glee. She became the name on every lip, but years later, some accusations threatened that status. Her co-stars in Ryan Murphy’s production labeled her a bully. They accused her of being insensitive via her words and actions.
Michele admitted to her wrong and wasted no time in issuing an apology. She was prepared to be a better person. The years that followed saw her right her wrongs. Lea Michele soon worked her way to the hearts of Broadway fans, playing Brice in Funny Girl.
The media seem to also recognize her contributions to Broadway. In April, Michele made it to the list of Time magazine’s 100 most influential people. This month, the actress-singer was also nominated for Tony Awards.
A Sneak Peek into the Funny Girl Star’s Work Life as a Family Woman
Recall that Lea Michele’s first love was Broadway. But the big question is how did she make it all fit after finding real love? The actress has been married to Zandy Reich since 2019. Zandy, a University of Pennsylvania alum, is as talented as his wife. He worked with a clothing brand before creating his own company named All Year Round.
The couple were introduced by their best friends after attending their wedding in 2015. But fate already brought them together as they sat next to each other at the ceremony.
After becoming friends, they turned lovers and eventually parents. Throughout the entire process, Zandy has been supportive of his wife. They are both hands-on parents when it comes to caring for their son. This leaves Michele with enough time to advance her career.
Recently, their son, Ever, was rushed to the hospital on different occasions. But all seem to be well, as Lea Michele has returned to work and is hoping for a Broadway return.
