Riot Games has confirmed that two more champions will receive Art & Sustainability Updates (ASUs) in 2023. League of Legends Caitlyn and Ahri will be getting a facelift, following in the footsteps of Lee Sin, the Blind Monk, and Teemo, Swift Scout, who received ASUs in the past.
League of Legends Caitlyn and Ahri Getting ASU
The ASUs are a way for Riot to update champions that have begun to show their age visually without making any significant changes to their gameplay; this approach has been well-received by the League of Legends community, as it allows players to continue enjoying their favorite champions while keeping them looking fresh.
Caitlyn and Ahri are two champions that have been around for a long time, and while their gameplay is still viable, their visuals could use an update. This is especially true for Caitlyn, whose cartoonish appearance has not aged well compared to the more detailed champions released in recent years.

In a video posted on February 16, Riot developers Brightmoon and Meddler also discussed other pain points that players have been discussing, including the recent changes to All Random All Mid (ARAM) game mode, the complicated lore of Runeterra, and changes to champion pricing.
One major change resulting from these two ASUs is that the release schedule for new champions will be slowed down. This is because some personnel will need to be removed from the new champion teams to work on the updates and new game modes. While this means there will be fewer new champions in 2024 than players are used to, it will benefit older champions that could use some love.
So, the ASUs are a positive step for League of Legends, as they allow Riot to keep older champions looking fresh and remain relevant in the game. Fans of these two Champions will eagerly anticipate their updated visuals, and it will be interesting to see which champions will receive ASUs in the future.
