There are still so many questions surrounding Liam Payne‘s heartbreaking death in Argentina on October 16. The former One Direction band member was confirmed dead after falling from a third-floor hotel balcony. There have been a plethora of reports and rumors regarding the singer’s untimely passing. However, one Argentinian journalist claims that Payne appeared to faint before falling from the balcony.
According to In Touch Weekly, journalist Paula Varela alleged that there is video evidence that Liam Payne fainted, which caused him to fall from the balcony to his death. Varela made the claims during an appearance on the Buenos Aires TV program Socios del Espectaculo.
New Report Claims Liam Payne Fainted Before Fatal Balcony Fall
“There is footage that is not being released to the media with the balcony scene where you see that Liam faints, and tragically because of where he is, falls from that balcony. If he had been beside his bed, he would have fallen on his bed,” Paula reportedly said on the show. “It’s not that he jumped deliberately. This footage is in the official case files.”
These claims are different from the original reports from The Associated Press, which alleged Payne had “jumped from the balcony of his room.” The singer’s extensive injuries reportedly led to his immediate death. “There was no possibility of resuscitating him,” Buenos Aires emergency services chief Alberto Crescenti stated.
Payne had a partial autopsy following his death. It was then determined that he had several drugs in his system, including cocaine, benzodiazepine, and crack. He was also positive for a drug known as “pink cocaine,” which contains ketamine, MDMA, and methamphetamine, per ABC News.
Unfortunately, Liam had a history of substance abuse. He previously opened up about his struggles and admitted to a 100-day stay at a Louisiana rehab in 2023.
Fans continue to mourn Liam Payne’s death and send their love to his family, friends, and other members of One Direction during this difficult time.
