The real difficulty spike begins with the Hushed Saint fight. This terrifying boss is the guardian of the first beacon in Axoim, so yes, he means business. While the previous bosses up to this point have been easy, the Saint is no walk in the park. Here, you’ll need to use most of what you’ve learned in the first areas and apply it to beat this guy and his annoying horse. For that, we’ve prepared a guide to help you beat the Hushed Saint in Lords of the Fallen.
Lords of the Fallen: Hushed Saint Boss Guide
Unprepared players will walk in thinking this boss is predictable and doesn’t hit hard; however, he’s protecting a beacon, meaning he will test you. While some of his movements are easy to learn, he has other gimmicks that make the fight much harder, even if you’re an expert with parrying and blocking. But don’t fret because we’ll break down his moveset so you can see what’s coming.
- First Phase:
- Mounted Attack: The boss begins the fight by rushing at you on his horse and attacking with his halberd.
- Leaping Attack: The boss jumps off his horse and throws his halberd at you.
- Shield Bash: After receiving a few hits, the boss will charge a shield bash attack. Easily avoidable. Don’t get greedy; land 2 or 3 hits and step back.
- Thorns: When the boss reaches 75% HP, he’ll dive in with his horse and appear to make a mounted attack. During the second or third attack, he’ll stop close to you and do a huge AoE attack, spawning thorns from the center to the outside. This can one-hit kill you. Stay next to the boss and roll when he hits the ground.
- Second Phase:
- Infused Weapon: When he reaches 50% HP, he’ll infuse his weapon with cold energy, increasing the range of his halberd. Blocking will build up cold damage, so avoid blocking and stick to dodging.
- Horse and Leap Combo: There are two variants. In both, he’ll hit his shield to summon his horse, which will charge at you. The first variant has him leap into the air for an AoE attack. The second has him deliver a fast, sweeping attack.
In truth, the first phase is the trickiest. When the boss reaches 75% HP, he’ll dive and start rushing at you with his horse. The only way to get him off it is by using your lamp to destroy some of the wards. This will knock him out of his horse. Do this twice, and he won’t get on his steed again.
For the second phase, we recommend sticking close to it. Since his attacks have a long-range, they usually don’t hit if you’re too close or behind him. It’s also a good idea to add fire or poison to your weapons to build up status effects. Finally, the easiest way to beat this boss is by calling for the Iron Weaver to help you. His hammer staggers the Hushed Saint a lot.
Personally, we think the difficulty increase is huge, especially after the game’s first bosses. This might present players with a big challenge and even deter a few. However, we recommend you keep this Hushed Saint guide close if you want to cleanse the first beacon in Lords of the Fallen.
