This summer is getting spooky! The folklore-focused survival-horror experience, Maid of Sker, is set to release digitally and physically at the end of July for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
This survival-horror tale transports players into the dark world of Welsh folklore. The press release reads:
Inspired by the haunting Welsh folklore tale of Elisabeth Williams, Maid of Sker draws players back to 1898 to venture through the shadowy halls of Sker Hotel. Armed only with a defensive sound-device, players will have to keep eyes open and stay alert through the waking nightmare in order to solve the supernatural mystery that hangs over the Sker Hotel.”
Maid of Sker is a first-person horror game with a strong focus on stealth-based gameplay. The new trailer, shown above, promises sound-based enemies, bag-wearing terrors called Quiet Ones, and sonar-based weapons, pulse-emitting orbs, to enhance the combat-free mechanics. An eerie Welsh hymn lends to the atmosphere of the trailer, and this is just one of the re-imagined hymns featured in the game.
Wales Interactive is known for its work on The Complex, Late Shift, The Bunker, and Don’t Knock Twice. Maid of Sker was brought to life by the writers and creative designers behind titles like SOMA, Don’t Knock Twice, and Battlefield 1.
Maid of Sker sneaks out on July 28th, 2020, for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One, physically and digitally. Pre-orders will open on July 21st through the release date. A release is planned for the Nintendo Switch later this year, possibly in October. However, an official release date has yet to be announced.
