Tennessee Rep. Tim Burchett posted a video from outside the U.S. Capitol stating that Planned Parenthood is using tax dollars for sex changes for minors and that he will compel the organization to provide answers if it does not do so voluntarily. The clip, shared on X, has drawn widespread online reaction, with many commenters questioning continued federal funding and the focus of the effort.

In the clip, Burchett stands outside the U.S. Capitol and states that on June 13, 2025, the subcommittee he chairs “requested information from Planned Parenthood Federation of America about the illegal use of federal funds to provide abortion services” and “providing gender affirming care to minors, which is sex change operations and through chemical processes.”

He says Planned Parenthood “has failed to comply with the subcommittee request fully” and provided “absolutely no information on the extent they’re providing gender affirming care,” describing the documents it did supply as “a slap in the face to the committee.”

Tennessee Rep. Tim Burchett adds that he will no longer wait and, “as chairman, we’re going to use the full authority that we have and get to the bottom of this,” saying federal tax dollars should not be used for abortion or “gender affirming care which is sex change operations and the chemicals and the prescription drugs they use to do that.”

The video does not show any documents or responses from Planned Parenthood, nor does it detail specific next steps beyond the statement of intent to compel compliance.

Reactions to the Video on Tax Dollars and Planned Parenthood

Some users focused on continued funding, with one writing, “Let me get this straight… We pass laws to defund, President Trump writes Executive Orders, BUT we STILL give out money like candy to organizations defunded? Make it make sense, Tim. How?”

Another said, “OUR GOP CAVED LAST SUMMER IN THE BBB WHEN THEY ALLOWED THE PARLIAMENTARY TO PUT FUNDING BACK IN FOR PLANNED PARENTHOOD… OUR SENATE GOP HATES AMERICA.”

Others called for stronger action, including “Compel them by taking away our tax dollars; until they comply” and “I never once consented for my tax dollars to go TO Planned Parenthood abortion clinics.”

Some questioned the issue’s priority relative to other matters, with one commenter asking, “Why are you so focused on all this Mickey Mouse irrelevant *expletive* right now and not Iran, accountability of the govt wasteful spending?”

Others disputed the description of services, stating, “Planned Parenthood doesn’t do gender reassignment surgeries. They offer gender affirming care.”

The clip has become part of the continuing online discussion surrounding federal funding for Planned Parenthood and congressional oversight of its services.
