CD Projekt Red’s The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt came out in May 2015, and since then, has remained at the top of everyone’s list as the best fantasy RPG ever. Based on the enrapturing books by Andrzej Sapkowski, the world of The Witcher 3 is as expansive as any game out there. And now CD Projekt Red is officially making a mod editor to let people add more content to The Witcher 3 almost a decade after its release.
New Mod Editor Is Getting a Free Release in 2024
This should come as great news for fans of the series because The Witcher 3 already has a burgeoning modding community. Even the recent The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt Remaster used some mods made by the community in the official release. And since CD Projekt Red is working on a lot of other projects, fans can keep the old gem alive.
Although there are already a plethora of mods out for The Witcher 3, the mod editor will allow people to make their own side quests and story content without limitations. This will make such projects a lot easier than before and should result in the game having an indefinite shelf-life for anyone who is part of the modding community. The mod editor will be coming out next year, but there isn’t a certain release date yet.
CD Projekt Red is working on another Witcher game along with a sequel to the futuristic Cyberpunk 2077. Now that the massive expansion, Phantom Liberty, is out the door, CD PR is working on the sequels in full force. With more studios in the US and the switch to Unreal Engine 5, CDPR hopes to speed up development while making sure it doesn’t repeat the mistakes it made with Cyberpunk 2077.
It is good to see that the developers want to keep their old games alive no matter how much time passes. This should give fans a lot of hope for the future of all CDPR games.
