You read that right. Televised. As in, live on television. For real. Nintendo has teamed up with Disney to bring us Clash of Karts: Mario Kart 8. Airing on December 5, 2015, at 8:00 p.m. PT/ET on Disney DX, the races will last for one hour and star eight special guests, all famous Youtubers. Challengers will be able to put their pedals to the metal against these internet celebrities to see who takes home the trophies.
The list of confirmed Youtube guests is small, as of yet, as only a few names have been revealed: Andre from Black Nerd Comedy, AtomicMari, Sethbling, and Strawburry 17. The other four are, apparently, being kept under wraps for the time being. Whoever they are, they better hope I don’t decide to show up and Bowser them all off the courses… is what I’d like to say, but the Mario Kart 8 competition is for children ages 13 to 18. And casting is already ended. Yes, this event isn’t open to the public. Only a select few challengers were allowed.
Mario Kart 8 is available for Wii U both by itself and as a special Wii U bundle from a wide variety of stores, both online and in-store. It’s the latest Mario Kart game and is one of the easiest to pick up and play. For those who still haven’t gotten their hands on it, maybe watching this competition will be just what you needed to get yourselves in gear.
