Who was the first Avenger? Well, it was Captain America, right? Not any longer it seems. This fall, Marvel Legacy will be introducing a new, old group of heroes, The Avengers of 1,000,000 BC.
Marvel is known for mixing things up, with alternate earths, dimensions, and time travel, but Marvel Legacy will be a whole new type of weird. The upcoming issues will explore just how far back the core concepts of the Avengers we know today were established.
“It begins at the dawn of the human race, and ends with a child’s prayer! In between, empires fall, mysteries brew, secrets are revealed, quests are undertaken and legends are forged! All leading up to the dramatic return you’ve been waiting for — and one you’ve been dreading! Jason Aaron (MIGHTY THOR) and Esad Ribic (SECRET WARS) usher in a new dawn — one whose rays will touch every corner of the Marvel Universe in the days to come! MARVEL LEGACY: It’s everything you’ve been longing for — and more!”
The newest first Avengers will carry a lot of parallels to the ones we see today, in both comics and movies, containing either the same name, status, costume, or mantle as many of the modern day equivalents.
The team will be made up of the following group of pre historic superheroes: Agamotto, the first ever sorcerer supreme and the man they eye of Agamotto is named after; The first Black Panther; a female Iron Fist; A Phoenix, prior to Jean Grey; Starbrand; Ghost Rider, riding a flaming Mammoth; Norse God Odin, who spearheaded the initiative.
Marvel is certainly firing on all cylinders creativity wise when it comes to their comics as of late, as this installment of Marvel Legacy comes right off the heals of the gripping Captain America: Secret Empire series.
