Hawkeye is getting a brand new comic series in January, and Marvel Entertainment released a trailer teasing what to expect. The comic titled Freefall hits shelves January 1, 2020, and is a brand new comic for Clint Barton.
When a mysterious and ruthless new Ronin starts tearing a destructive path through the city, suspicion immediately falls on Hawkeye, but Clint has more to worry about than who’s wearing his old costume.”
Matthew Rosenberg is writing the comic with art and colors by Otto Schmidt.
We were really looking for an artist who would capture the personality of Clint and just the characters in his orbit in a really engaging way, and [Schmidt] does that really, really well.”
I think he’s the selling point of the book honestly, says Rosenberg. I think Otto’s work when people see it their minds are going to be blown.”
The trailer begins with writer Rosenberg talking about the comic and detailing a bit of what fans can expect when they flip through the pages.
It’s about Clint realizing that things aren’t quite working the way he wants them to. Meanwhile there’s a brand new Ronin in New York who is terrorizing the streets and no one knows who it is and all of Clint’s friends think it’s him. It’s just making his life much more difficult.”
Associate editor Alanna Smith says,
Both of them are kind of going after the Hood, who is a very dangerous crime lord in New York City. So it’s kind of the collision of all three of them as they all come at these problems in the city from different directions.”
Freefall will also see Hawkeye team up with other Avengers, including the Winter Soldier, Bucky Barnes, Spider-Man, Black Widow, and the Falcon.
Hawkeye will also be getting his very own television series on Disney+.
