Marvel Studios releases the first teaser trailer for its upcoming superhero film, Eternals. The trailer shows the cast in full costume, exhibiting their powers and showing them helping humanity through time. Based on the Marvel Comics with the same name, Eternals follows ancient alien Celestials as they live secretly on earth but reunite to fight the villainous Deviants.
It brings together a lot of superheroes, and therefore the movie has an ensemble cast that is star-studded. The cast includes Angelina Jolie as Thena, Salma Hayek as Ajak, Richard Madden as Ikaris, Kumail Nanjiani as Kingo, Brian Tyree Henry as Phastos, Lauren Ridloff as Makkari, Lia McHugh as Sprite, and Don Lee as Gilgamesh. Additional stars were announced later, including Kit Harington as Dane Whitman, Gemma Chan as Sersi, and Barry Keoghan as Druig.
Marvel Studios debuted the Eternals movie trailer, which follows the first look released early this May that showed a few snippets of the film. Watch the teaser trailer below.
The movie is directed by Chloe Zhao, the recent Oscar winner. In April 2018, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige announced that a film based on the Eternals had begun development, with Matthew K. and Ryan Firpo hired to write the script for the project in May. The movie has a diverse cast portraying the Eternals, which include Marvel Studios’ first depiction of an LGBTQ superhero. The events of the movie will take place after the events of Avengers: Endgame. It was announced earlier this year that Gemma Chan’s character, Sersi would be the lead of the movie.
The epic trailer shows the Eternals through time, showing glimpses of their various cultures as well as their costumes. It was previously set for release on November 6, 2020, before it was shifted to February 12, 2021, and then to the November 2021 date due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
