To coincide with Eternals streaming on Disney+, Marvel has announced a new Eternals comic series. This seven-issue series will be a collaboration between Marvel and WEBTOON. The series Eternals: The 500 Year War lands today on Marvel Unlimited and will arrive on WEBTOON on January 20. It boasts a massive lineup of global talent that will bring the story to life.
What Will the Series Be About?
This new Infinity Comic series will place the focus back on the alien race known as the Eternals. Each issue will dive into the group’s past encounters with the Deviants during the titular 500 Year War. These encounters occur all over the globe. As a result, readers will get a first-hand look at how the Eternals interacted with the cultures of the human race across time.
Why the Eternals?
Though the Eternals film did not go over too well with audiences, the group is still a fascinating part of the Marvel Universe. Especially their comic book counterparts. Additionally, the Eternals allow Marvel to explore international stories and cultures. Therefore, C.B. Cebulski, the Editor-in-Chief of Marvel, shared why the Eternals are the perfect fit for this project: “Bringing Eternals: The 500 Year War to Marvel Unlimited will open up doors for our international creative teams to tell much more personal stories by setting them in their homelands. These stories will break down borders”.
Who is Handling Such a Cool Project?
Since the series will focus on different cultures across the globe, Marvel and WEBTOON have acquired an international creative team of comic artists and writers. Each issue will focus on a different part of the world and will utilize a creative team from the part of the world.
This rotating lineup will include writers Dan Abnett, Aki Yanagi, Jongmin Shin, Ju-Yeon Park, David Macho, Rafael Scavone, Yifan Jiang; artists Geoffo, Rickie Yagawa, Do Gyun Kim, Magda Price, Marcio Fiorito; and Gunji. It will also include colorists Matt Milla, Carlos Macias, Fernando Sifuentes, Pete Pantazis, and Felipe Sobreiro.
