Spoiler Alert! The following content includes heavy spoilers on Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 ending.
Spider-Man 2 Story Quick Summary
The game’s story picks up nearly a year after the events of Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales. Peter Parker is now trying to become a teacher at Brooklyn Visions Academy but fails due to leaving on the first day of their job to save the city. Peter and Miles defeat Sandman before he deals too much damage to New York, and then they realize that a bigger threat named Kraven The Hunter is coming.
Kraven, being a classic villain of the Spider-Man stories, is after killing all the previous anti-heroes and evildoers we saw in the previous games. He kills Scorpion, captures Martin Li, and then tries to fight venomous Peter Parker. Pete gets super symbiote abilities thanks to bonding with Venom and defeats Kraven. But then Venom goes back to Harry Osborn to create the full version of the famous villain.
Harry kills Kraven in a classic Venom brain-eating style and then tries to completely overtake Earth by speeding the symbiote around the world. This is where Peter Parker gets the powers of Mr. Negative, AKA Martin Li, and then defeats Venom with Miles and MJ to finish the final arc of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 story.
What Happens In Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Ending
Several important things are happening in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 story ending. After defeating Venom, MJ starts a new podcast called the “New Normal” instead of working for the Daily Bugle. Peter starts a new career, and Miles takes on bigger responsibilities with a new Spidey. However, there are more things to discover with the developers teasing Marvel’s Spider-Man 3 in the post-credit scenes!
Peter Parker Retires From Being Spider-Man
At Marvel’s Spider-Man ending, we see that Mary Jane Watson is trying to rebuild Emily May’s foundation so that she can honor Aunt May’s purpose of helping people with Peter. However, this will require more time for Pete, and if he wants to continue Aunt May’s work, he needs to give up being the Spider-Man; at least for a while. And that’s what exactly happens.
Peter is then seen with Miles, getting notifications of a crime going on in NY. Miles gets ready with the Spider-Man suit to deal with the threat, while he tells Peter to have the normal life he deserves for a while. Peter stays home with MJ, while Miles Morales claims the mantle of Spider-Man for real.
A New Spider in Town
Another post-credit scene in Marvel’s Spider-Man ending includes a new character named Cindy Moon. Rio, Miles Morales’ mother, was trying to tell his son about a new man he’d been dating. But during the events of the game, Miles never gets some free time to meet him.
In the final cutscene, a man named Albert Moon shows up as Rio’s date. However, it seems like Miles has found himself a new sister with this date. Cindy is Albert’s daughter, and this is huge news for those who read Marvel’s comics! Cindy is in fact another Spidey, who is also bitten by a radioactive spider. She is called the Silk in the comics, and we need to wait and see who she becomes in the next Marvel Spider-Man game.
The next Spider-Man Game is The Final Chapter
And here comes the final big news of the Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 ending: The Green Goblin! After Harry Osborn returns to his sick status by the end of Marvel’s Spider-Man story, Norman Osborn goes mad. He breaks stuff, yells, and then tells his team at Oscorp to ready the G-Serum. Now what is the G-Serum? Probably the one that creates Green Goblin and Green Goblin Jr.
Whatever the case, Norman Osborn doesn’t seem to be the nice guy that he once was. The pain of losing his wife and his son drives him crazy. And as he transferred Venom into Harry’s body, it’s possible that he’s trying to inject the Goblin serum into his son’s veins this time. Nonetheless, he thinks that Spider-Man is the reason for his son’s current situation, and that’s why he asks an old friend to deal with it.
In Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 ending, Norman goes to the prison to see Dr. Octavius. This visit is not a good one, however, as he tries to deal with Octavius to fight Spider-Man for revenge. One important thing to note here is that Doc Oc is writing something, and when Norman asks about it he says that this is the final chapter; a direct reference to Marvel’s Spider-Man 3 as the next installment.
Now this is just what we saw in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 story ending. The developers surely have dropped these hints to point towards a new story, but this isn’t confirmed by Insomniac Games just yet. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will receive a New Game+ feature coming soon, and we might get to know more about the future of Spider-Man’s story with the additional content.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is currently available to play on PlayStation 5.
