In a recent scoop by Game File, it seems that Marvel’s Wolverine creative director has moved on to Xbox‘s upcoming Perfect Dark. After the reveal three years ago and suffering from many leaks, Insomniac‘s next superhero game lost its creative lead. However, this doesn’t mean our favorite mutant’s next adventure is in trouble. According to the same report, a new creative director has joined the ranks and has an extensive resume that will surely benefit the upcoming project.

Brian Horton is no longer creative director of Marvel's Wolverine from PlayStation/Insomniac. He's now creative director of Perfect Dark from Xbox/The Initiative. Ratchet & Clank leads are now running Wolverine

According to the report, Brian Horton, Marvel’s Wolverine former creative director, left the project during the summer. Brian moved on to Xbox‘s Perfect Dark as the newly appointed creative director. However, it isn’t all gloom and doom for Wolverine’s fans. According to Game File sources, developers responsible for Ratchet & Clank have joined the team. Marcus Smith has taken the role of creative director, while Mike Daly will take the mantle of game director.

Furthermore, it seems that the director change involved “creative decisions around the game,” according to official sources. Sony didn’t elaborate further on the topic. It is uncertain what this entails, but it seems the majority of the community is taking this with a positive reaction, at least according to Reddit.

Others see it as a win-win situation for both games. Since both are long-awaited releases, it is nice to see talent of this caliber joining projects as big as these ones.

A win no matter what.

Of that last one, I wholeheartedly agree. While it is strange to see someone with such a high role move on to another project, it is nice to see that both Marvel’s Wolverine and Perfect Dark are in good hands with talented creative directors. Still, we can’t help but wonder how far these projects are from launching. Whatever the case may be, we only hope both games arrive in a great state and please the dedicated fans supporting these endeavors.
