The official website for the anime Masamune-kun’s Revenge announced that the anime will be getting a second season. This announcement came along with the latest update of the manga with the same name. The official website also streamed a promotional video that reveals the anime’s new logo and visuals.
This announcement also comes after an April Fool’s joke that the franchise played on fans. Instead of announcing a season 2, the anime announced an upcoming season 3 with a whole new cast of characters.
The first season of Masamune-kun’s Revenge first premiered in January 2017. Crunchyroll streamed the entire series as it aired in Japan, and Funimation streamed an English dub starring Josh Grelle and Morgan Garrett. Seven Seas Entertainment licensed the manga in North America and is in charge of distribution.
Masamune-kun’s Revenge Season 2: The Revenge Continues
The story of Masamune-kun’s Revenge is described as
As an overweight child, Makabe Masamune was mercilessly teased and bullied by one particular girl, Adagaki Aki. Determined to one day exact revenge upon her, Makabe begins a rigorous regimen of self improvement and personal transformation.
Years later, Masamune re-emerges as a new man. Handsome, popular, with perfect grades and good at sports, Masamune-kun transfers to Aki’s school and is unrecognizable to her. Now, Masamune-kun is ready to confront the girl who bullied him so many years ago and humiliate her at last. But will revenge be as sweet as he thought?
The Masamune-kun’s Revenge manga was first launched in a 2012 magazine of Monthly Comic Rex. The entire story finished in June 2018.
As of now, Masamune-kun’s Revenge also has a spinoff manga titled Masamune-kun’s Revenge After School. The manga tells similar “after stories” about the characters, including Masamune, Ak, and Yoshino. Ichijinsha published the stories into one complete book volume called “volume 11” in April 2019, and Seven Seas distributed it in the West.
As of now, there is no release timeline for Masamune-kun’s Revenge anime season 2.
