As any fan of various role-playing games knows, at the core of great RPGs is their ability to force choices on the player. No matter how substantial or inconsequential these choices are, forcing the player to make a decision makes their whole experience with the game that much more personal. Mass Effect Legendary Edition is no different, featuring many different choices all the way to each game’s finale. During the finale of the first title, you’re forced to make a difficult choice about the council. If you’re conflicted as to the effects this has on the rest of the series though, no need to worry. In this guide, we’ll explain whether you should save or sacrifice the council in Mass Effect Legendary Edition!
Save or Sacrifice the Council in Mass Effect Legendary Edition
For starters, choosing to save the council will result in the most paragon points for your Shepard and will ultimately have the best impact on your future ventures. You won’t see much as far as the fruits of your labor, as the council will still act condescending towards Shepard, but you’ll also have the Destiny Ascension War Asset for the end of the third title. On the other hand though, if you go the renegade option and choose to sacrifice the council, this will have fairly large consequences on the future games. The other races will hold negative feelings towards the human race for one, holding issue with their choice to forget others for the sake of their own skin. Not to mention the Destiny Ascension War Asset won’t be available and will skip out on a short cutscene during Mass Effect 3’s final battle.
All in all, you’ll have a slightly easier time if you choose to save the council in the very end. The galaxy will hate you less, and every little bit helps when it comes to tackling the Reaper threat.
