The appearance of Mavuika caused quite an uproar. First, her design didn’t please everyone because it was too modern. However, a waifu always attracts attention, so many players let her outfit slide and waited for more information about her kit. However, as soon as the demo of Mavuika using a motorcycle appeared, most of the Genshin Impact community lost their minds again. Although such a modern vehicle seems very out of place in the saurian-filled tribal land, there is a logical explanation for the existence of motorcycles in Teyvat.
How Does Time Work in Teyvat?
Some theories say that time in Teyvat is not linear. In Genshin Impact, the Present, Past, and Future happen simultaneously as they are woven like fabric; it works like the Dark series. This aspect appears reflected in The Loom of the Fate, the “change” of Wanderer’s story in the Irminsul, or the origin of Thunder Sakura. This allows the Traveler and other characters, such as Dottore, to interact with events that occurred long ago. For example, the Enkanomiya and Tsurumi Island quests. So, some can travel to another time to change the “present or future” or carry items to different timelines. For example, Istaroth, the goddess of time, supposedly gave Makoto the Thunder Sakura seed 500 years ago to save Inazuma and help Ei.
Ancient Civilizations Already Had More Advanced Technology
The time theory is somewhat complex, but there are simpler explanations for why Mavuika would have a motorcycle in Genshin Impact. For example, all over Teyvat, there are several civilizations that “disappeared” but had advanced knowledge. Being mainly Khaenri’ah, the one that left more vestiges behind. In Khaenri’ah, Gold created life, such as Albedo, Durin, and the Rifthounds. Also, this civilization created machines like the Ruin Guard, Ruin Hunter, and Ruin Grader, which are still working today. So, creating a motorcycle would not be very difficult.
Seeing Technology In Modern-Day Teyvat Isn’t Too Far-Fetched
This is precisely when our adventure as The Traveler begins, and for all that we have already explored, there are many skilled nations and characters. Liyue, for example, can make a paper lantern of a deer “come to life” to light up the night of the Lantern Rite. If you think it’s no big deal, a trailer shows Guizhong and Xianyun arguing over creating unique machinery. Xianyun is also always working on gadgets like her portable kitchen and the automatic flying kite. She even said she made her own motorcycle.
In Inazuma, Ei created several living puppets, the Raiden Shogun and Wanderer, all to get rid of her body and leave her consciousness in one of these vessels. I think this is something much more complicated to accomplish in Genshin Impact than Mavuika’s motorcycle. Also, in Sumeru, we basically have internet access. In Fontaine, there are other mechas with complex functions. The Nimble Harvester Mek and the Recon Log Mek are the most motorcycle-like robots.
According to the Genshin Impact lore, Mavuika’s motorcycle is part of ancient dragon technology that uses phlogiston as energy. So they didn’t create the bike; they inherited that technology, and Xilonen simply adapted the ancient gadgets, like her DJ table. The only thing is that since only the phlogiston is in Natlan, their technology is not seen outside the nation. Also, although Natlan works with a tribal system, the inspiration for this nation merges the ancient and the modern. So it has several cultural references, but with very 2000-2010 elements, at least from Latin America, which explains not only the modern objects or the murals but also the design of Ororon and Mavuika’s clothes.
