Too many MCU superheroes are struggling to find proper footing post-Endgame, and Blade is no exception. Marvel Studios has once again delayed the troubled vampire superhero reboot, replacing its November 2025 listing with Predator: Badlands. Originally, the MCU Blade reboot was being eyed for a 2022 release date.
It’s not clear yet when Blade will be released, but the MCU has several upcoming projects, including three notably big untitled ones in 2028. Still, with the number of delays Blade has incurred, the hope is that the reboot won’t take that long.
The troubled project is apparently still being spearheaded by none other than Mahershala Ali as the titular vampire superhero. He would be replacing Wesley Snipes as the previous Blade who notably starred in three Blade movies in the late 1990s and early 2000s.
Since then, Blade’s presence in both film and TV has been sparse or almost nonexistent. MCU’s Blade reboot has seen two directors quitting the project which then contributed to some of its delays.
The Old Blade Got to the MCU First
It was, however, quite ironic that Wesley Snipes’ Blade cameo in Deadpool & Wolverine came to the big screen first and has even contributed to the crossover film’s success.
Still, the Blade reboot is not only poised to revitalize the franchise but also ease Blade into the MCU’s extensive multiverse.
Alongside Mahershala Ali, Mia Goth will also be playing the role of Lilith. She’s the main villain in the Blade reboot. In some of Goth’s previous interviews for her other projects, she assured Blade fans that Marvel “really care, they do. They want to make a great movie. That’s the sense that I get from them and that feels good.”
Meanwhile, Marvel studio’s primary producer insists that it’s important for Blade to have a great script. The franchise was, after all, the first R-Rated superhero movie back in 1998.
