Ever since its first debut in 1996, the Pokemon games have always sported huge collections of different “pocket monsters” for players to collect. From Smoliv to Growlithe and every Eevee-lution in between, there’s a wide variety of Pokemon out there and at least one for every kind of playstyle that exists. Nowadays, with nine generations and over 1000 Pokemon created, it’s hard to imagine that there’s anything more a Pokemon player could want. Still, the rise in fake Pokemon – or “Fakemon” – proves that even now, a fan’s imagination knows no bounds. One Japanese Pokemon fan has shown proof of this with Pizzarus, the pizza-dinosaur Pokemon.
Viral Pokemon Fan Turns Pizza Into a Dragon-Type Pokemon
The new pizza-inspired Pokemon comes from Twitter user s_kumaco, who posted another Fakemon pitch to their growing portfolio earlier today. Currently, the pitch has 10.9K likes and over a thousand retweets, and it’s not hard to see why. Borrowing inspiration from real-life dinosaurs, Pizzarus the Pizza Dinosaur is a Dragon-type Pokemon with four stubby legs, a mouthful of sharp teeth, and a load of gooey cheese and toppings.
Which toppings each specific Pizzarus Pokemon is sporting depends on the regional variant. The Pizza Pokemon’s Twitter pitch contained a few variant concepts, including one with olives and one that looked like it had some pineapple – maybe that’s a dual Dark-type. Regardless of its variant, when they’re in close proximity, a group of Pizza Pokemon can gather together to form a complete pie.
In terms of Pokemon canon, we’re hoping GameFreak is taking notes on Pizzarus. Even if that’s not the case, the Pizza Pokemon is carrying on a long tradition of Pokemon based on real-life objects. Gen 5 saw the debut of Trubbish, a Poison-type Pokemon who’s basically an adorable trash bag, and Gen 6 saw the first appearance of Klefki, a Steel/Fairy-type shaped like a keyring.
