Bravo’s fantastic lineup of reality TV series has a new addition with the studio’s announcement of a Summer House Spin-off Summer House: Martha’s Vineyard, which will introduce new faces including Silas Cooper. For the first time, the network will bring viewers an all-black cast when the series premieres on May 7, 2023. According to reports, fans will be able to catch the episodes on the Bravo app and Peacock.
Meanwhile, the cast, led by newly married couple Silas and Jasmine Cooper, consists of 12 young black professionals, all with the intention of having a memorable summer vacation. Although the casts are all friends/acquaintances, this is the first time all twelve will reside in one house and be in each other’s faces. Due to their different personalities and relationships, fans can expect a summer vacation with lots of fun and drama.
However, one feature that makes the vacation more special for the all-black cast is “Martha’s Vineyard,” an iconic and historical location for Black vacationers. According to Bravo, Martha’s Vineyard has served as a popular vacation location for African Americans, offering them the opportunity to purchase properties.
Besides its cultural significance, Martha’s Vineyard, located on an island south of Cape Cod, Massachusetts, is famous for “its pristine beaches, romantic sailboats, and colorful gingerbread cottages.” Martha’s Vineyard will serve as home to the group during the filming, and for most of the cast members, this will be the first time they will vacation at the historic site. Nonetheless, before the series premieres, here are details about Silas Cooper, husband of Jasmine Ellis Cooper, who orchestrated the entire holiday.
Silas Cooper’s Age and Hometown
Although Silas Cooper has been a frequent vacationer at Martha’s Vineyard and even visited the historical location with his wife Jasmine last summer — this will be his first reality TV experience. According to Silas’ Bravo bio, he is a first-generation Liberian American residing in New York.
Silas is proud of his Liberian heritage and proudly flaunts it on social media. Judging by his past Instagram posts, Silas turned 32 last month, although there wasn’t any birthday celebration post to mark the day. His previous birthday post came two years ago, on March 10, 2021, when he celebrated his milestone 30th birthday.
Silas shared many photos from a surprise birthday dinner his wife, Jasmine, planned. The images featured Silas, Jasmine, and friends and family of the couple. He wrote in the caption:
“This is 30. Blessed to be surrounded by amazing people. – Special thanks to wifey @jasminedellis for putting this together, I was legit surprised. Still shocked lol I love you, Jas.”
Silas Cooper’s Career
As per Silas’ Bravo bio, he attended Ivy League schools and is a member of prestigious fraternities and organizations. However, his Instagram page details some of his educational background. In an Instagram post on May 11, 2021, Silas uploaded a throwback photo while traveling down memory lane. The adjoining message revealed his kindergarten education at Buduburam Refugee Camp in the 90s. He also became a law school graduate in DC in 2019.
After his graduation, Silas pursued a career in finance. Despite his successful career crunching numbers, Silas went on to achieve a lifelong dream of becoming an officer in the United States Army Reserve. He celebrated the accomplishment in a March 16, 2022, Instagram post, where he thanked his wife, parents, siblings, and friends for being the “backbone” that kept him going. Silas joining the Army Reserve was another testament to his resilience and his hunger for success in every sphere of life.
Silas Cooper’s Instagram
Summer House: Martha Vineyard‘s Silas Cooper may have sworn loyalty to the army, but his family, including relatives, wife, and friends, have his heart. He welcomes online surfers with a soul-stirring note on his Instagram bio that reads:
“Service to others is the rent you pay for your room here on Earth.”
Online, he is just a simple guy with zero worries and enough time to spend with those who matter. Additionally, Silas appears to be enthralled by his wife whom he got engaged at the beginning of 2021. While chronicling the episode, he branded Jasmine as his best friend.
Next to a carousel of snaps detailing how and where he went on one knee, Silas employed heart-melting words to share how much Jasmine means to him. Fans will meet the buffed-up army officer who does not mind globetrotting and capturing memories. This time, he will be confined to live with people, and we will see how well his resilience will hold.
