The first look at Pixar’s next animated film has been released, with the teaser trailer for Inside Out 2. The sequel to the 2015 movie, Inside Out, will follow an older teenaged Riley and her emotions after the first film’s events. Inside Out 2 has been directed by Kelsey Mann and the writer is Meg LeFauve who was also a writer on the first film.
The short trailer doesn’t give much away, except that things will be shaking up in Riley’s emotional center. At the end of the teaser, you can see that several different emotions are teased in place of “good” in “the feel good movie of 2024.” They are “envious, ennui, and embarrassed.” These emotions will most likely appear as characters in the film, especially as recent rumors pointed to these same emotions. You can watch the teaser trailer for Inside Out 2 below.
Who Is Returns in the Teaser Trailer for Inside Out 2?
The sequel comes with a shake-up from the first movie’s cast. Joining Joy (Amy Poehler), Sadness (Phyllis Smith) and Anger (Lewis Black) is a new emotion, Anxiety, who is voiced by Maya Hawke (Stranger Things, Do Revenge). Bill Hader (Barry, It: Chapter Two) and Mindy Kaling (Velma, The Mindy Project) will not be returning as Fear and Disgust respectively. Instead, Tony Hale (Veep, Arrested Development) will be playing Fear while Liza Lapira (Fast & Furious, 21) will be playing Disgust.
Pixar seems to be selective when it comes to sequels, with 2019’s Toy Story 4 the last Pixar sequel to release. Inside Out 2 will be the 28th Pixar movie, and yet Inside Out is only the 6th movie to get a sequel. It’s most likely getting a sequel because the first film was the highest-grossing original Pixar film since Finding Nemo.
Inside Out 2 is set to release in theaters exclusively, and while the teaser trailer doesn’t have an exact date, only referring to June 2024, the film is slated for June 14, 2024.
