Even if many of us can’t wait for Persona 6, Atlus has been cooking something original, and today, we got to see a new trailer during The Game Awards for Metaphor: ReFantazio. Anyone who’s familiar with the studio can recognize the iconic art style from it. However, this time, it seems the developers are going for something entirely different. While we are all used to the modern-day setting, this new project embraces fantasy without losing the iconic gameplay features we love from the Persona series and is making it look like a recipe for success.
Metaphor: ReFantazio Launches in Fall 2024 According to Latest Trailer
The latest trailer of Metaphor: ReFantazio during The Game Awards gave us a huge glimpse at many new characters arriving in this fantasy world Atlus has created. Besides that, we got to see a bit of the semi-open world exploration, turn-based combat akin to Persona, and many social aspects that a lot of people loved from the fifth entry of the aforementioned series. What looks even better is the combination of fantasy things with modern gadgets, such as a hoverboard and other steampunk-like things we saw. Overall, we can’t wait to get our hands on this game to see what’s behind this convoluted plot we got to experience in the latest trailer.
It is great to see this studio getting outside of its comfort zone, and the latest Metaphor: ReFantazio trailer confirms it. However, with a new title on the way, the new Persona entry might be far away. Still, it is great to see another RPG from these developers, which we are sure will have a huge impact when it launches.
In the meantime, be sure to check out Persona 5 Tactica, which, while it might not be the best game in the franchise, still gives us another adventure with our favorite Thieves of Hearts. But if you prefer to wait, watch for Metaphor: ReFantazio, which might not be too far away from arriving.
