New reports indicate that two members of Mike Rogers’ campaign team appear to be registered as foreign agents working on behalf of Israel. As the election for U.S. senator in Michigan draws near, contentious topics such as alleged Israeli interference in the race continue to surface, and it seems that this new connection has irritated local voters.
According to the International Business Times, Abby Ronson and Jesse Stokes are registered under the Foreign Agents Registration Act for work connected to the Israeli government. Both work for Convergence Media, a Republican consulting firm.
Ronson and Stokes are also said to be connected to a separate Israeli government-funded communications project managed by former Trump campaign manager Brad Parscale, called Clock Tower X LLC. The project reportedly received millions of dollars to promote messaging against antisemitism in the U.S.
It’s important to note, however, that appearing on the list does not mean that these two individuals were paid by the Israeli government to work on Rogers’ campaign, only that they have a documented connection to the government of the Middle Eastern country.
Michiganders Criticize Mike Rogers Over Reports of Foreign Agents Helping Him
The revelation made waves on social media, with many Michigan residents on r/Michigan criticizing Rogers over the reported connection. One of them said: “He was the Intel chair during the Iraq war. Probably has a few favors with [President Benjamin Netanyahu] Bibi.”
Others were not surprised by the revelation: “This is the least surprising news in this entire mess. I wonder if the true depth and doings of AIPAC will ever come to light?”
The recent endorsement Rogers received from former Democrat Haley Stevens even prompted some users to ask sarcastically: “Is Haley Stevens one of them?”
Some locals were simply furious about the current state of politics, however: “Honestly, someone needs to do a deep dive on all the politicians on both sides that are foreign agents. It seems to pop up from time to time and then disappear, but it seems very prevalent and against the purpose of an elected official.”
With the election drawing near, it remains to be seen who will become Michigan’s next U.S. senator: Republican Mike Rogers or Democrat Abdul El-Sayed.
