Michigan’s Haley Stevens Slammed After Trying to Tie El-Sayed to Antisemitism Once Again: ‘She is wholly owned by AIPAC’

Michigan Senate candidate Haley Stevens has recently entered the spotlight just before the primary, but not in a good way, as multiple residents complained about her insistence on trying to link her Democratic opponent, Abdul El-Sayed, to antisemitism. This prompted some Michigan residents to criticize Stevens’ campaign.

In a recent interview with Michigan journalist Sam Robinson, Stevens was questioned about why she recently accused El-Sayed of “blaming all problems on Jewish Americans” after he criticized her for receiving money from the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC).

In her answer, she compared her supporters to El-Sayed’s. She accused him of giving a platform to Hasan Piker, whom she described as a “talented streamer who has been very antisemitic.” She accused Piker of saying that “America deserved 9-11” and claimed that she is campaigning with local community leaders, while El-Sayed chose to align himself with people like Piker.

Michigan Reacts to Stevens’ Latest Remarks About El-Sayed

Stevens’ remarks were not well received on social media, as multiple X users criticized what they believed was her attempt to dodge the question: “She put on a masterclass when it comes to speaking yappanese. 2 minutes and 11 seconds of straight [EXPLETIVE].”

Someone else added: “Pay attention to how many names she has to drop in order to appear relevant. This is a lady whose campaign is in desperate mode. Wonder why? Name dropping rarely works.” Another user also had harsh words for her: “She is wholly owned by AIPAC.”

Others were concerned that the primary is almost over and believed Stevens was still using the “excuse” of antisemitism to attack her opponent: “Losing by 15, so now AIPAC is ‘the Jews’ and Hasan is the villain. You’re not fighting antisemitism — you’re hiding behind it. Say the lobby’s name or sit down. Michigan already knows what this is.”

Some folks did support Stevens, however. As one person explained: “Sayed and Bernie’s slate of candidates no longer hides or sends code of their Jew hate – now they run on it as their main issue,” essentially agreeing with the politician’s claims.

The winner of the Democratic primary in Michigan will be decided this week, and it remains to be seen whether Stevens or El-Sayed will become the nominee.
