Emulators have been around for multiple years already. Because who doesn’t want to play games from other systems? Xbox is one of the consoles that can emulate and play games from its competitors, like the Nintendo Switch. Now, Microsoft might be working on official support for emulators in the Xbox.
Microsoft Working on Xbox Emulators
Because of the effort of several developers, the Xbox Series X has a handful of emulators that can play a load of famous games. With this in mind, numerous Xbox players are playing titles they are not supposed to in their systems. Recently, Microsoft has banned emulators on the Xbox storefront, and as everyone might have guessed, there is a reason.
According to a tweet from a developer, Alyanna McKenna, their friend from the Xbox QA team gave the details about the recent emulator ban. Apparently, the primary reason is because of the present legal issues that Microsoft is facing against Nintendo.
Nevertheless, the QA team is keen on allowing emulation on the famous console. They are also currently exploring ways in which players can run emulators safely and legally. Furthermore, Microsoft is currently in talks with developers in order to provide full support for Xbox emulation.
This only means one thing: Microsoft is probably working on Xbox emulators that are legal for the public. Take this leak with a grain of salt since the screenshot of the email is not provided in the said tweet. Nevertheless, because of the recent emulator releases in several systems, like the RetroArch and Dolphin for Steam, there is a huge possibility that Microsoft is indeed working on Xbox emulators.
Developers can now rest easy knowing that Microsoft will finally be bolstering them in bringing emulators to the Xbox.
