Nintendo’s smartphone app, Miitomo, is set to launch outside of the US on March 31st. It was revealed earlier in the year that you could pre-register for Nintendo’s social based service in advance. Pre-registering began on February 17th. When pre-registering users were given the choice of whether or not they wanted to tie the service to their existing Nintendo Network ID. Considering Miitomo will tie in to Nintendo’s new loyalty program, My Nintendo, it would seem a safe assumption many agreed to sync the services. The reports of consumers pre-registering for Miitomo was reported to be going well.
Miitomo launched in Japan on March 17 and was met with success. It is a good thing that Nintendo did a staggered release after the issues releasing Pokemon Bank on Christmas day caused. Hopefully, the servers are built to handle the influx of activity that will come with the launch on March 31st. If they aren’t, then who knows when the service will be launched afterwards.
Miitomo has the promise to be a fun and exciting new service that can bring Nintendo fans of all varieties together. Will it also integrate with the Nintendo NX? Or even the Wii U and 3ds? Only time will tell. Are you already registered? On the fence? Let us know what your plans are with this new app from Nintendo.
