Nothing ruins a future marriage like being sacrificed to a dragon. Netflix has released the trailer for Damsel, its latest project with Millie Bobby Brown as she tries to survive against a dragon and take revenge against a royal family (seen below). She is joined by Ray Winstone, Angela Bassett, Brooke Carter, Robin Wright, Nick Robinson, Milo Twomey, and Nicole Joseph.
The film follows the Stranger Things star as she is about to marry into royalty. Right when she walks down the aisle, things look off as her soon-to-be family are wearing suspicious masks. It turns out it is a part of an ancient ceremony to sacrifice her to a dragon. She must climb out of the hole she was tossed into for revenge. From the footage, it looks like a high fantasy spin on the 2019 horror film Ready or Not.
Damsel Trailer Sees Millie Bobby Brown Overcome the Impossible
Damsel is the first film since 2011 from Juan Carlos Fresnadillo. The director was best known for 28 Weeks Later, whose last film was Intruders. The fantasy blockbuster was penned by Fast X scribe Dan Mazeau.
Netflix has continued its working relationship with Millie Bobby Brown with Damsel. She has led two Enola Holmes films and her breakout role as Eleven in Stranger Things. The series is currently in production for its final season. Her detective film series has a third installment in the making, as the streamer greenlit the sequel last year.
While starring in the film, the lead also serves as an executive producer. Executive producing with her is Sue Baden-Powell, Robert Brown, and Mark Bomback. Emily Wolfe, Joe Roth, Nick Page, Mazeau, Jeff Kirschenbaum, Chirs Castaldi, and Morgan Burshe produce.
Damsel unleashes the dragon on the streaming service on March 8.
