If you own a PC, console or a smartphone, chances are you’ve played Minecraft as it is available pretty much everywhere. That being said, it has always been a mystery as to why Minecraft never found its way to a Nintendo platform. Not only does Minecraft fit the Nintendo ethos but with the Wii U gamepad at your disposal, creating the world would be easier than ever.
That may soon be changing though as a listing has appeared stating the game is not only coming to Wii U, but it could be arriving today! (November 12th)
Check out the listing here on the PEGI website.
Could this date simply be a placeholder whilst the exact date is finalized? Possibly not as Nintendo are broadcasting a Nintendo Direct feed on the same day. This could be where we see the first, official announcement of Minecraft Wii U Edition.
We are not quite sure why it has taken so long for Minecraft to appear on Wii U but will it simply be a port of the version we know and love? Will we see exclusive features such as character skins or even Nintendo worlds? Maybe we’ll get Minecraft Amiibo’s? Who wouldn’t want to see a zombie with the master sword? We can only hope!
Minecraft was created by Marcus ‘Notch’ Persson and developed by Mojang. The series was later sold to Microsoft for a staggering 2.5 billion dollars. Over 70 million copies of Minecraft have been sold worldwide and the series has expanded recently, collaborating with Telltale Games to create an episodic story mode. A Minecraft film is also in the works and is set to be directed by Rob McElhenney.
